This project utilizes physical industry 4.0 technologies to upcycle small scrap fabrics, while larger scraps could be repurposed and smaller scraps are donated or discarded; the fashion industry generates over 92 million tons of waste annually. Bio-based TPU material is used to 3D print onto various fabrics, providing structure, and laser-cutting increases adhesion while eliminating the need for sewing. This approach offers a potential solution to reduce textile waste and promote sustainable fashion alternatives, enabling modularity and self-expression as users create their swatches to wear.
