The gentleman of tomorrow: touchingly
reasonable, aesthetic and likable –
Care-O-bot 4 is the new archetype of a
service robot. It was developed at the
Fraunhofer IPA in Stuttgart in close
cooperation with Phoenix Design, combining
User Experience Design in all its many
disciplines. As a matter of course, timeless
design, formal and functional precision are
vital elements for its deployment in a modern
architectural environment – barrier free.
Care-O-bot 4 is singularly flexible and
elegant. With its slim form, it moves
smoothly and fluidly about the room. The
intelligent interface and the tactile-visual
design quality turn interaction into a
cognitive and sensual experience. Being
capable of autonomous navigation, identifying
obstacles and picking up target objects are
only some of its powers. The result: a
symbiosis of design and engineering, of
function and emotion – seducing users to
enter into an interaction right away.
