Ashtray coffee table
In developing the Ashtray coffee table, the
idea was to take some of our societies
outmoded or benign items and give them a new
life; to alter the “image” of how we
interpret these shapes. The Ashtray shape
for example carries with it a connotation of
being unhealthy, smoking, a passing fad,
tobacco industry; conversely, in the past it
was regarded as cool, hip, sophisticated
etc… The simple shape of a square
transforming into a circle is easy to live
among as a repurposed coffee table.
